Welcome!
My name is Laura Jochens, and I am a licensed professional counselor in Denver, Colorado. Born and raised in central Texas, I spent over 2 decades in the Lone Star State before making my way to the mountains. I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Baylor University as well as a master's degree from the University of Denver in Counseling Psychology.
I am dedicated to helping people lead productive and enriched lives. I believe that every individual has the capacity to live a mentally, emotionally and spiritually satisfying life. My objective is to provide my clients with a safe and supportive environment as we seek to fulfill their unique goals.
Outside of my private practice, I am a part-time clinical instructor with the Developmental Psychiatry Research Group at the University of Colorado School of Medicine at Anschutz. The research looks at the relationship between fetal brain development and risk for later mental illness like schizophrenia. Additional studies I am working on are investigating the impact of phosphatidylcholine supplementation on fetal brains exposed to marijuana and the potential for psilocybin as a treatment for postpartum depression.
In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, traveling, cooking, and spending time with my family, including my three children and my German Shorthaired Pointer, Poppie.
